I love New York City. I can’t say I love NYC in the summer, but the one plus is summer streets. Every year, the city shuts down Park Ave and opens it to the entire community to bike, run, walk, whichever it pleases. For three Saturdays in a row from Brooklyn Bridge all the way up to Central Park, you can take advantage of the open space:
Last week I decided to do my long run on the empty streets, and despite the crappy weather, it was completely exhilarating. Major plus: they have water stations along the way so I was able to keep myself hydrated as well. Make sure you get out there soon though, this Saturday is the last one for this year! 7am – 1pm!
Have you been able to take advantage of summer streets? Do you prefer biking or running, or do you just like stopping at the tents for free samples? :)
